How it Works
The hydro-balanced concept isolates the production fluid from the primary seal, and therefore the atmosphere, with the placement of a proprietary secondary seal system below the primary seal. The chamber created is filled with a biodegradable grease and pressurized to flow line pressure, thereby forming a pressure balanced barrier of grease. The grease is pressurized via a cylinder/floating piston arrangement mounted on the side of the HBSB. Flow line pressure is introduced into the cylinder below the piston, pressurizing the grease above the piston. This pressurized grease is then continuously fed into the chamber between the primary and secondary seals.
The secondary seal system's innovative diaphragm design allows it to move and stay centered with the polished rod, which greatly reduces wear and improves seal-ability. The primary seal system's proprietary design also compensates for polished rod misalignment, increasing seal life.
This unique seal system provides continuous lubrication to the polished rod and seals, reducing friction and allowing lower temperature operation. This feature extends the life of the polished rod and seal elements, and reduces the energy demands on the pump motor.
