 History The Hydro-Balanced Stuffing Box utilizes a "barrier" of clean, pressurized grease between the production fluid and the atmosphere. This concept was originally patented by Harold Palmour, of The Palmour Group. Harold subsequently signed a license agreement with Trico Industries for the further design and development of the HBSB. Several prototypes were manufactured and successful testing completed at The Rocky Mountain Oilfield Test Center in Wyoming.Trico Industries then underwent an acquisition process, after which The Palmour Group and Barrier Fluid Technologies, LLC entered into an agreement for the continued development of the HBSB. Several years of design, development, and testing have resulted in the compact, cost and pollution reducing unit offered today.
